Catching up…

Wow … so sorry about the late post :( I’ve fallen off the blogging wagon but I’m definitely hopping back on!

Well my family  survived the massive snow-copolyse back in Feb Got at least 3′ of snow with 4 1/2′ of snow drifts LOL. Work has totally taken over and I’ve been getting busier and busier! But I’ve maintain my goal of loosing weight and I’ve already lost over 14lbs and 3 inches off my waist line … so happy – basically I’ve been portioning everything, going to the gym, walking the dog, hiking and jogging – I’ve accomplished so much and I couldn’t be any happier – hoping to reach my weight goal by Aug/Sept and train for a 5k … let’s see if I can do this!

This week I have a feeling is going to drag due to the fact I am leaving for Hawaii!! Going with my friend Sarah and we’ll be there for a total of 11 days. We’re going to stay a week in Kailua-Kona (Big Island) and then fly to Oahu for the last 4 days. So exited … we planned this back since November I believe so I cannot believe how soon it’s coming! So in the next few days or so expect a lot of pictures :)

In the meantime enjoy some of these photos – see what I’ve been up to :D

Share the Love

So today I came across the OWN channel and it had the show “SoulPancake”, which is hosted by Rainn Wilson and Oprah. The show talked about Love and the meaning to it. I really enjoyed it; they really went deep into the spiritual and scientific world of love. If you get a chance watch it… At the end of the episode the street team set up a box at a boardwalk for on-goers to experience a burst of love. WARNING: Video may cause a continuous smile and happy tears.

There are two things in my life that I love to do – 1) LOVE to shop and 2) Help give with charities. Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the American Hear Association’s National Wear Red Day in honor to show support in the research of Heart Disease. Not only do I love all the work that AHA has accomplished this charity holds dear to my heart – my grandmother had passed away from heart disease and both my parents had suffered from heart related issues (my father has had a heart attack and just last year my mother had open heart surgery – triple by-pass).

So not only was yesterday National Wear Red Day, the AHA CT Chapter held an event at Alex and Ani in New Haven. I just started getting into their jewelry and I absolutely love it! 15% of this total went to AHA and my little cupcake charm is actually one of their many “Charity by Design” items that 20% of all sales went to a certain charity (for the cupcake it went to Multiple Sclerosis ).

Yesterday was a successful day – I got to shop and give back to not only one but two great organizations.

Happy Tuesday

Smile … you’ve accomplished Monday – here are some quotes to make your day :)

the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

Time to test out a new recipe … you guys ready? This one comes from the Six Sisters’ Stuff Blog. Made these for my co-worker’s birthday and let me tell you this was a huge hit – there were no … Continue reading

Push it.

What a productive weekend. I really got a lot of things done and I am kind of really proud of how much stuff I got accomplished, especially this whole week I was aiding a cold (praying as well that it wasn’t the flu!).

Started to get back into my routine of going to the gym at 7am – worked my butt off this weekend and I’m glad I pushed through it. I love that feeling when you get out of the gym and you feel like you can conquer the world – and that’s pretty much what I did! Went to Ikea with the parent people to get a new entertainment shelf (my siblings and I got together and bought them a nice LED TV for Christmas to replace the old box tv they’ve had for years). We ended up also getting a new coffee table.

Love Ikea and all but if there was just ONE thing I’d suggest – please put words with your picture instructions!!!! Putting together the coffee table and the entertainment shelf took me and my dad a whole day!!! It gave me such a headache because I was trying to figure out which goes with what and all then to have my dad tell me no do this first … ahh what a day!!

Another thing I got accomplished was getting a new cover for my iPad Mini, before I had the smartcover (I think that’s what it was called) on it  - I purchased that when I bought the iPad because I needed a case. It’s good but it’s really easy to detach because the smartcover is not something you snap into, it’s all magnetic. The new case I got was one I really needed because if my niece or nephew were playing with it and dropped it’d be ok because it’s in an actual case. The one I got was from Target by Speck. It’s cute:

I think tomorrow I’m going to make some cookies :) … stay tuned for the recipe of course!

Farewell 2012 – Hello 2013!!

I cannot believe it’s already 2013!! It’s insane how fast the days go by and before you know it, it’s already the new year! I’m sorry for my lack of posting – this will change soon I promise. Sadly my last post was back in November after the storm :(  The days following that entry were filled with hectic planning for where Thanksgiving was and getting things situated for Christmas … it felt like everything was rushed. But now that the holidays are over and the new year has begun I feel like it’s time to make a list … you know that darn “Resolution List”. So here we go!

2013 Resolution/Goal List

  • Loose 40 lbs by November (because I know if I say by 2014 I’m screwed up with holiday food!)
  • Stop Making Excuses – this plays in part with the first goal. I want to stop making excuses for everything especially the gym … it’s time to get back into the groove of things.
  • Blog at least 2-3 times a week and include a recipe entry (I’ll even start today – Look out for the Peanut Butter Bars!)
  • Start Knitting again

That’s what I have so far – but I’m sure it will grow as the days go by. Hope all of you had a great holiday … here’s to 2013!!
